Review for Personal MBA Coach

Extremely Helpful, Patient, & Knowledgable

I can’t say enough good things about Scott and his team. I would 100% recommend him to anyone who is applying to business school. His personal approach is unique. Anytime we needed to chat, he was available for calls. I always spoke to him, as his team operated efficiently in the background. Scott was always expedient on responding to emails and he was meticulous when he provided suggested edits to essays and application prompts. If we did not see eye-to-eye on a certain detail as it pertained to the essays or application, he would explain his thoughts in-depth, and then we would come to an agreed-upon decision on how to approach. Ultimately, he helped me achieve my goal of getting into one of my top choices, and I cannot be any happier. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Scott and the Personal MBA Coach team to achieve my dream of matriculating at a top-20 MBA program. Thank you again, Scott!

I used Personal MBA Coach for their 5-school package, and I ended up signing up for my sixth school since they broke down the complicated application process into simpler step-by-step process.

Before I started my application process, I did a fair bit of research on consultants, and finally decided to go with Personal MBA Coach. From Day 1, Scott will give you the honest, non-sugarcoated advice that everybody needs. As a business school applicant, you need to understand what your strengths are as well as your weaknesses. Most consultants are good with telling you your strengths, but they are not as good with telling you your weaknesses as they do not want to upset you. Scott was different, and hence I decided to go with Scott and his team.

Throughout the application process, I knew that I could rely on Personal MBA Coach as Scott was always there and would answer my emails/questions even during weekends or Christmas! From minor points in my overall story to locations I should select for my interviews, Scott would answer all my questions (no matter how minor and tedious they might be).

I am now admitted by one of the top 3 programs in the US, and will be matriculating this fall. I highly recommend Personal MBA Coach if you are looking for the best consultant in the industry as I know I probably would not have made it without Scott and his team.

Before you pay a consultant, learn all you can about MBA programs, then if you still want a consultant you may be able to find one. I can't help you with them. No one should consider an MBA program without consulting the Official MBA Guide. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much moreYou can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria.

Review for PERSONAL MBA COACH

I highly recommend Scott Edinburgh from PERSONAL MBA COACH as an excellent MBA applications consultant.
Here is why:

-My primary goal was to get into Sloan and I think I was not a perfect candidate (not a super high GMAT or undergrad GPA, etc.). He really helped to bring my best story to come out in my application.

-He kept me organized in my thought process and with the deadlines throughout the application cycle.

-He gave me an honest assessment of my strengths and weaknesses as an applicant. He knows how to leverage your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses. He is experienced and practical. He listens and crafts a practical strategy that is tailored to your circumstances.

-I am a person who asks a lot of questions (sometimes a little too much) and he is very patient. He is friendly and professional at the same time.

I really enjoyed working with Scott. Looking back I think it was a really wise decision. With his help, I was able to get into my target program and also got a scholarship. Highly recommended!

I met Scott a year before I decided to work with him and his team. Initially, I thought I could go through the process alone. I was wrong. When I decided to reapply, I spoke with different admissions consultants, but none had confidence in my profile. When I reached out to Personal MBA Coach, Scott not only remembered me from our first meeting but was confident that by working together I could go to business school.

Scott and his team were honest about how my application would stand up at certain schools and thoughtful in helping me pick which ones to apply to. Throughout the process Scott and his team were there to answer big questions like am I telling the right story and minor questions like should I included this extracurricular in my application. The Personal MBA Coach team gave me and my recommenders detailed feedback on what we wrote. Their guidance is invaluable. There is no other team I would want to work with.

I had an amazing experience with Stratus Prep. I worked with Susan Cera, about whom I cannot say good enough. I was originally picked up with her because she understood my sporting background and I considered programs like Fuqua (where she went and worked for AdCom. She almost always answered emails within 24 hours, even when I gave her a ton of questions to consider. I got emails very regularly on evenings and weekends and she worked through my schedule as needed.

I vaguely knew what I wanted to do with my career, but I didn't understand how to frame my story. We jumped over a dozen possible career paths, and she helped me not only write my story, but also find out what I'm really passionate about and how I can apply it in my career.

Overall, I had an amazing experience. You only have one chance to go to business school, give yourself all the tools to choose the program that works best for you.

I used Personal MBA Coach and had a great experience.... I truly believe that I would not have had the same outcome had it not been for Scott and the Personal MBA Coach team! When looking for a consultant, I had initial calls with a lot of companies. Personal MBA Coach stood out to me because of its boutique nature – I knew once I spoke to Scott that I would really get that one-on-one focus that I didn’t feel I would have with others. From the start, Scott and the team were honest with setting expectations yet dedicated to helping me maximize my chances at my target schools. Besides helping me craft my story and making sure I stayed on top of important timelines, Personal MBA Coach really asked the hard questions and helped me through the really introspective part of the application process. Additionally, they were willing to answer any question - big or small - in a very timely manner. I'm very excited to be attending an M7 school next year and I have Scott and the PMC team to thank for that!

Hey!

Yes I did!!!

I've seen this post and wanted to leave a reply for the amazing team of Personal MBA Coach.

I’ve known Scott and MJ through Personal MBA Coach’s TBD mock interview prep. I’ve joined a couple of mocks with other candidates before. However, I wasn’t sure about whether my performance was good enough for the real interview. I’ve connected with Scott at the Personal MBA Coach and he introduced me to MJ for a mock session, which was awesome. After the session, we held an amazing feedback session in which she touched on my personal and technical performance. Even after our conversation, she sent a very detailed written feedback for me. It was my first time getting a feedback from a professional for an interview prep and clearly it was a game changer.

I thank MJ for conducting a great mock session, her kind approach, and her amazing feedback. I also thank Scott for the entire process. He has a good heart and is a great professional. I recommend the Personal MBA Coach team to everyone with utmost pleasure.

Stay safe

Some admissions consultancies will work with clients to identify their brand, their story, or something that makes them memorable. They'll also work with clients on interview prep, selecting their recommenders, and some even offer in-house GMAT and GRE tutoring.

Ask the consultants about their experience and how they keep themselves currently updated and in-the-know about the programs. You can always check out General Education for more details. They even have a FREE Consultation. Their website has all the details in-depth.

I highly recommend Scott and the Personal MBA Coach team!

I was referred to Scott by a friend who applied in the 2020 cycle and got admitted to an M7. Right from my first "getting to know you" session, Scott was very direct and honest about my candidacy and MBA prospects, which I really appreciated. I did not have the best scores on paper, but Scott and the team pushed beyond that. The team helped me carve out and perfect my story and resume to show that I was more than just the sum of my numbers. The team helped me identify certain anecdotes from my life and helped me turn them into cases for competency in business school. There is a certain way to craft business school essays, and the PMC team knows exactly what it is and what specific schools are looking for. The whole process was so smooth and well planned that I completed all my applications well before the deadlines.

After countless essay reviews, one on one calls and emails, the team also assisted me with interview prep and gave valuable feedback, ensuring that I was in peak performance.

While I initially had concerns about the price tag, I am ultimately glad I did it

I used Scott at Personal MBA Coach.

Scott is incredibly experienced in MBA admissions, extremely responsive in communications, and attentive to your needs as an applicant. I remember pitching multiple stories for how I was thinking about approaching my applications, and Scott helped me decide on a singular story while we were chatting on the phone. After that, it was off to the races crafting my personal statement.

In addition to the qualitative aspects, Scott was able to drive outstanding results through end-to-end process support. The iterations on my personal statements and admissions essays were timely and actionable, sometimes going so far as scrapping most of a first draft in favor of more concise story-telling. By the end of the process, I felt like I was delivering a narrative that only I could tell, and it came across as very intentional and authentic.

I was able to get into my target program, and Scott played a pivotal role in getting that glorious acceptance phone call!

I worked with Personal MBA Coach and it was an incredible experience. THE BEST, don't hesitate at all!! The whole team is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. With experience in the Middle East and Europe, I was successful in my applications to multiple M7 deferred MBA programs. Personal MBA Coach provided me with structured guidance and tools to prepare for interviews, applications and jobs. The team is always available (7 days/week 24 hours) and very committed to helping you and answering all of your questions. There is an AMAZING dedicated one Personal MBA Coach consultant SCOTT that shapes the overall experience when you work with them, yet Personal MBA Coach broader team has former M7 adcom experts when needed (Nicole is incredible). When I had doubts about my abilities, the whole team motivated me and encouraged me so much! Personal MBA Coach brought the best out of me and challenged me to continuously reassess and reflect on myself so that I can convey my true self when applying. With extensive experience and expertise, the team is so professional, genuine, detailed and authentic when providing advice on how to improve. I highly recommend Personal MBA Coach to anyone thinking of applying to an MBA!! :D

I used Personal MBA Coach - Scott specifically. He was recommended to me by a friend who was using his service. I am so glad that I eventually decided to go with Scott! I got into both HBS and Wharton and will start my journey at HBS this coming fall. Scott and his team were very helpful throughout the process, helping me with my story and essays, as well as the interview prep. For each school I signed up with him, he and his team went through 6+ essay edits with me. Super patient! For HBS and GSB, we went through 10+ edits. Each time the comments were very helpful! In addition, shout out to MJ (she is also from Personal MBA Coach). She helped me with my interview prep for both HBS and Wharton. I would highly recommend them!

+1 for Personal MBA Coach and Scott Edinburgh. Darya and Ujjwal you are awesome as well!

The personal MBA Coach team and Scott specifically have been exceptional consultants for me and I had experience with other consultants to compare with. The result speaks for itself: Scott's holistic view of the process and his ability to quickly grasp my story helped me get into one of the top 3 most selective business schools having just 6 days!!! before the application deadline.

During the application process, Scott greatly helped me crystallize the right positioning for my case. He then went over the top to help me with other aspects of the application to help me meet the deadline. Although I've been already partially acquainted with the process I can honestly say that I would not be able to get it done in time with such quality without Scott.

Furthermore, his services improved my strategic positioning skills which I'm pretty sure I will benefit from throughout my entire career.
