been found all over North America, they are named for
the New Mexico site where they were fi rst discovered
in 1932.

All other choices somehow distort the original meaningn of the sentence.

Hence A. Buti would have liked it better if it was"named after the New Mexico" instead of named for.

I second that. At first I thought 'named for' is incorrect, but none of the options contained 'named after'. I make a note for myself that 'named for' is correct.

D contains couple of errors:

It's not a sentence: (modifier),Clovis points, (modifier), but were found all over North America.
'Were' is not correct; according to original sentence, they are still found.
