All other choices somehow distort the original meaningn of the sentence.
Hence A. Buti would have liked it better if it was"named after the New Mexico" instead of named for.

I second that. At first I thought 'named for' is incorrect, but none of the options contained 'named after'. I make a note for myself that 'named for' is correct.
D contains couple of errors:
It's not a sentence: (modifier),Clovis points, (modifier), but were found all over North America.
'Were' is not correct; according to original sentence, they are still found.
