Kellogg Leadership Workshop

by islandgurl918 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 8:25 pm
Hi BTG-

I was recently invited to the Kellogg Women in Leadership conference. Would writing about this experience help me in my admissions essays?

Thanks,

Nicole

Hi islandgurl918,

While I would not advise you to write about the experience itself in your essays, I certainly think that the conference must have given you a lot of inspiration for essays #1 (Elaborate on your future career plans and your motivation for pursuing an MBA) and #2 (Describe your key leadership experiences and evaluate what leadership areas you hope to develop through your MBA experiences).

Sure, you can "name drop" and tell them that during the Kellogg Women in Leadership conference you learned about certain things or realized you could develop yourself in certain areas. However, attending a conference is a passive activity and it's hard to see how you, by simply attending, are more eligible than others to be admitted to business school.

For more ideas on how to approach your essays, don't hesitate to contact me.

Good luck!
