I guess statement 1 is sufficient in itself because
xy+5x is even , that means x has to be even for this statement to be true
if x is even this statement will end up being an even number doesn't mattter if y is odd or even.
statement 2 does not involve x so i guess there is no need to look into if statement one gives us answer
I hope I am right. Please correct if wrong.

should be "E".
1 alone...does not tell anything about X. X can be odd or even.
INSUFF
2 tells only about Y. Nothing about X. But it do tell us that that Y is odd...as the 6y^2(even) + 41y + 25(odd) = even.
Thus 41y = odd
=> y = odd.
Combining.
X* (Y+5) = even
Y+ 5 = always even since Y = odd. So there will not be any effect of X....be it even or odd...till the time it is integer.
