Columbia EMBA Admission Chance

by Njcct84 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 8:25 am
Hello,

Am a 28 year-old investment banking sr Associate with his principal's license. I manage and supervise a branch office in NYC comprised of bankers and S/T employees.

Undergrad: Top 30 Private Liberal Arts, UGPA: 3.0/4.0 (Poli Sci)
Ivy Grad Certificate program: GPA: 3.33/4.0 (Business Studies)
GMAT: 600, 6.0 writing
5 years experience. Veteran of 2 major investment banks and now a manager expanding a boutique bank

My question is, what are my chances at getting into the EMBA. I want to continue working and grow our office, but lack the managerial skills to properly motivate team.

Also, a side question... Is it easier to get into EMBA programs than full time? Thanks!

Definitely easier to get into EMBA programs and your experience would probably be viewed as valuable to an EMBA class. I would encourage you to apply with what I see in your profile. Let us know if we can be helpful in pulling everything together and honing your vision. Even though EMBA is not as rigourous from an admissions perspective, Columbia is an elite school and likely gets lots of banking applicants like yourself but with even better profile stats, so make sure you think of ways you stand out when compared to others with a similar background.
