consider the following example.

Lisa has to run many errands.

Lisa's mother suffers from allergies that prevent her from leaving the house.

We can write

Lisa has to run many errands, allgeries preventing her mother from leaving the house. (active participle)

OR

Lisa has to run many errands, her mother prevented from leaving the house by allergies ..

(passive participle)

So, IMO C

Let us look at a simpler example:

Mercedes can reach up to 200 miles/hr, preventing its engine from overheating by efficient coolants.

The issue with this sentence is that it seems to suggest that Mercedes itself is preventing its engine from overheating. But, an inanimate object (Mercedes in this case) cannot really do anything. Mercedes is actually designed in such as way that its engines is prevented from overheating. Hence, the following would be more appropriate.

Mercedes can reach up to 200 miles/hr, its engine prevented from overheating by efficient coolants.

Hopefully you can now draw parallels.

I found a nice article on Absolute phrase construction.

Try to read 10-20 sentences of this kind in order to get comfortable with this type of construction.

After arduous months of fighting, the sight of the white flag being raised generated as much relief on the victor's side than it did on the vanquished.

(A) as much relief on the victor's side than it did on the vanquished.
(B) as much relief among the victors as among the vanquished.
(C) as much relief on the victor's side as it did on the vanquished's.
(D) relief both on the victor's side as well as on the vanquished's.
(E) relief both for the victor and the vanquished side.
i think the question sent to us is different from what everyone is discussing.
the answer to this question would be option C

Yes, that is a good suggestion, since aspirants need to just get "used to" this type. Following are some of the questions in OG12 that use this type of construction: 38, 48, 63, 83, 103.

In the OG Verbal supplement, questions 75, 96 and 100 use this construction.

(E) makes sense...
Only (E)

Hi,

How about looking for parallelism here? In that sense i feel D will be better having all the verbs in simple past form.

Pls explain

For me the only one which sounds grammatically correct and also gives the sentence a certain meaning is "E"
