Well it's a tricky question you asked, because whether you need to take the GMAT again depends on the colleges YOU want! In order to help you choose the right programs for you, we need a weeee bit more info. 1. Your goals 2. Your location preferences (i.e. East coast, west Coast; Big city, small town, etc.) 3. What you are looking for in a program.
Cause there are LOTS out there.
Now, if you want to get an idea of which programs you can reasonably apply for, a good place to start (although this is very approximate) is looking at schools where the average GMAT of candidates accepted is within a 30 point range of your GMAT score, so in your case, schools like: Johnson, UNC, McCombs, Kelley, Georgia Tech....
But when you choose your schools, they should fit into your goals and dreams.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
1 - My five years work ex is in Banking domain (IT) so I would like to do a course in Consulting or Finance may be considering banking domain.
2 - Anywhere except west coast
My wishlist will be UNC, McCombs, Johnson and Tepper. Next may be Simon, BC and BU but keeping my score in mind I am not sure if hold any chance in these colleges. Remember Indian IT Male. Even though I have work ex in India, US, Panama - very diverse locations.
Now after this score how about these colleges - Mays, MSU Broad, SMU Cox.
The reason I asked you if I should retake test is because I was getting good scores in my practice test but screwed in actual test. Also if I take test again I may miss this year deadlines.
MGMAT 1 - 680
MGMAT 2 - 680
MGMAT 3 - 680
MGMAT 4 - 700
MGMAT 5 - 710
GMATPrep 2 - 720
Please let me know if you need more information.

Manu,
Well actually it's quite "normal" to score less on the real test then the practice one = there's the whole deal about stress, etc. Now if your wishlist is UNC, McCombs, Johnson and Tepper (all great schools, and all ones at which you have some chances of getting in), plus you add two of your other schools (Mays, Broad, Cox) you will be giving yourself the best chances of getting in this year.
Now, you CAN retake, but the thing about retaking is that at this point in time, with your work, having to study for the GMAT will likely cut into the time you will have available for preparing your applications, so you gotta take that into consideration.
As for your last question - to be honest, you know better than me. Everybody has their own GMAT study style and their own way of advancing, so it's hard for me to say.
Hope this helps,
