There are infinitely-many values of z that satisfy BOTH statements. . Here are two:
Case a: z = 0.6. In this case, the answer to the target question is YES, z IS greater than 0.5
Case b: z = 0.3. In this case, the answer to the target question is NO, z is NOT greater than 0.5
Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, the combined statements are NOT SUFFICIENT
Answer: E
