1) The length of a side of square S is 10% greater than the length of a side of square T.
Say the length of the side of the square T is x unit; thus, the length of the side of the square S would be (x + 10% of x = 1.1x) unit
=> Area of the square T = x*x = x^2
=> Area of the square S = 1.1x*1.2x = 1.21x^2
Thus, the area of square region S is 21 percent greater than the area of square region T. Sufficient.
2) The length of a side of square S is 22 and the length of a side of square T is 20.
=> Area of the square T = 20*20 = 400
=> Area of the square S = 22*22 = 484
Thus, the area of square region S is [(484 - 400)/400)*100%] = 21 percent greater than the area of square region T. Sufficient.
The correct answer: D
Hope this helps!
