Does anyone recommend buying the books early? Is there any other advice?

For most people, an MBA is a terminal degree, so there is less competition for grades than in undergrad (or in other masters programs). Many people find that b-school is less academically difficult than their undergraduate programs. Business schools know that you're there to learn, but you're also there to network and get to know your classmates, do internships, etc. If you have the GPA and GMAT score to get into a top business school, you probably already have the chops to succeed without additional effort.deborahfields wrote:Does anyone recommend buying the books early? It's not a bad idea to brush up on topics that you didn't take in undergrad, or that are relevant for your goals after business school: finance, accounting, marketing, etc. Take an online course with Coursera, EdX, HBX, etc. I recommend that students do this before applying, though, to show interest and dedication.
In short: most students shouldn't feel like they have to pre-study for business school once they're already accepted. But a little bit of catch-up so that you speak the same language as your classmates is not a bad idea.

Preparing for GMAT and cracking a good GMAT score is the first step towards your MBA applications. Make sure you crack a good GMAT score (730+) in-case you are looking to apply to top 20 schools or if you carry a low GPA score. Then look for best fit schools for you in the Industry and Function that you want to work in (for e.g. Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, Analytics etc) and then look for schools offering best career opportunities in these areas.
Also have a Salary Vs Cost comparison to see which schools fall in your budget. This would help in deciding the best B-Schools for your profile & career targets. Start preparing for you're application early,so that you have plenty of time to work on do's and don't of you're application.
Best to look for an experienced consultant who has worked with hundreds of applications. This will help you to target the right school to apply and also create well-tailored essays which will increase your chances of receiving interview invites and admit offers.
Choose the recommender carefully(inform about your application and what you need from them). Prepare your CV in short, which should highlight your profile in short(strength, achievements, career & academics). Prepare for your interview with experts, so that you're chances of getting admit shouldn't get missed.
