Hi, Gambitbiz,
Thanks for your post.
Your GPA and GMAT scores are important for the admissions committee to be able to assess if you can handle the academic rigors of the HBS program. Is there a reason why your GPA is low? Have you shown an upward trend in your GPA? If so, you can succinctly explain this to the Admissions Committee in your optional essay. If there is anything you can do to get your GPA up before you apply, that would certainly help you. If you have not taken quantitative classes, you could take a class(es) and do well so you can show you can handle that aspect of the MBA program. You will also want to take your GMAT sooner rather than later so you know where you stand academically.
Academics are not the only measure that the admissions committee will consider. It is good that you are involved in activities and are taking leadership roles. You will want to demonstrate that to the admissions committee. Make sure you also highlight your accomplishments from your internships and show how you have, and will continue to develop, transferable skills and experiences that relate to where you want to go in your career. Overall, you will want to show your maturity and fit with HBS 2+2 and that you can handle the program so early in your career.
