Hello Friends,
Sorry for long absence. I hope you have not missed me much!! Just a quick recap...
I am currently following Masters in Management program at ESSEC Business School, Paris. I joined ESSEC right after graduating from Engineering School. At ESSEC, I follow a company-sponsored management training track popularly known as "Apprentissage" in French where the company takes care of the tuition fees and also provides some stipend to cover for living expenses. It is a pretty interesting sandwich program where you get the opportunity to apply the skills you learn in school. Life at ESSEC is pretty vibrant and multi-cultural. Living in the heart of Europe you get the chance to meet people from so different cultures. Along with classes, there are lots of events happening everyday and its just impossible to attend all of them!!
Feel free to ask any question about ESSEC or management education in France. I will try my best to answer them.
Cheers!!

Hi Scooby,
MBA in Luxury Management is a very specialized program and of course one of the best programs ESSEC offers. As far as admission is concerned, I am not the correct person to comment on that as every candidate is evaluated on a set of broad criteria rather just just work experience.
Best of Luck for your Application!!

hi Karan,
I have been admitted to essec Msc in management programme. I have applied for the Eiffel scholarship and right now I have no clue about my chances to get it. So can u plz gimme some info regarding eiffel i.e how many people from essec (particularly indians) get it and if u could pls comment about my chances get it. here's my profile -
GMAT-680. B.tech in civil eng. from IIT Delhi, currently in my final year. Interns in HSBC and Barclay's + two more.
I believe my essay was decent enough. I would also like to know that if they do give this scholarship to more than one person from same university, admitted to same B-school cause there's one more guy from my college who has been admitted to essec.
I would also like to know about apprenticeship and what are the odds to get one.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers!!

Hello Karan,
Hope everything is ok with you.
I will be joining ESSEC for the Global MBA starting Sept 2011.
I want to know how important it is to have a knowledge of French? What level of knowledge would you recommend?
Thanks
Ayan

@vvj : Eiffel Scholarship is not based any specific criteria as you should be aware of it. Last year 2 Indians from MSc Program got this scholarship.
Apprenticeship => There is whole website dedicated to it and once you arrive at ESSEC you will be given details about the procedures etc.
Odds to get one =>completely depends on the sector you are targeting and your profile and most importantly...others who are competing with you for the same offer!!
@ayankm: If I am not wrong, you have all courses in English right? So technically you don't need french at school but to make your life easy outside school french is must!
what level of french => Untill and unless you don't intend to stay back in France, in my opinion a conversational level of french is sufficient. Even if you don't have that level, don't worry...when you will stay in France you will automatically catch up!!
Cheers,
Karan

Hi Amat700,
There is no fixed list of do's & don'ts. You can prepare for the interview just like you would prepare for any other B-School of the same league. Do some search on internet and I am sure you will find a whole list of questions for your interview.
As far as getting in is concerned, its really difficult to predict but your previous academic background, GMAT and how you rightly fit ESSEC community will be the key points for you.
Best of Luck!!

hi,
i am an NIT Trichy student and have a GMAT score of 680.
workex : 5 months. Ernst and Young, Adani Power Corp.
I understand that there is no official average/median score for the program but could you still tell me whether my score is competitive or not. Or whether I should write the GMAT again and aim for a 700+ so that i could be eligible for the autumn session of admission?
any advice would be highly appreciated.

Hello,
Your score is competitive. In the past there have been some students who have been admitted with that score. However you should emphasize on other aspects of your candidature like the extra-curricular activities and work experience etc.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am just curious to know about the job prospects considering the economic recession scenario.
Does top consulting companies like McK, BCG and Bain offer jobs on campus for MSc Strategy guys?

Hi,
I am interested in applying for the MBA in Luxury Management or Global MBA. I have a 630 in GMAT, so I am concerned whether this score stands me a chance. I have a very good GPA, work experience and volunteer work, excellent recommendations to add to the application.
How can I make my application more competitive. The site mentions 600 GMAT minimum, but should I apply with a 630 or not? Does it fall in mid 80 range?
Thank you. Look forward to your reply
