570 to 560

by ankitarath » Sat Nov 26, 2011 8:49 am
Hi,

I wrote GMAT in July and scored 570. Thereafter, I have been studied for almost 2-3 months. On my Gmat prep I scored 690 +. However, in today's exam I was unable to manage time and did worse than before. Got 560 :( :(.

I am very disappointed as to should I appear again or not? Will I score better next time? How should I prepare now? If i write in December, will I be able to apply for Sep 2012

My split up - 44 quants and 25 in verbal.

From what you wrote it sounds like a stress issue to me.
IF you retake in December it'll be a little bit late to matriculate for Sept 2012. If you can, wait it out. Take your test calmly, under no stress and apply next year. I'm sure you can hit the score you have been mock testing. And it will be worth it!

I took the GMAT three times. First was a 580 (with the flu!!)

Second test, no flu, no stress, left thinking I did good... 550.

Undetered, I enrolled in a second prep course (yes, rather expensive) and my third attempt was a 600.

Don't give up!!!

Ankitarath,
I had the same situations as yours too. My first attempt was 560 and then 620, and 640 for the third time. Instead of re-taking it for the fourth time, I decided to go for the application process. Although my score is disapoointed, I can still work hard on my essays and stuff like that. You may want to re-take it one more time and a lot of schools deadline is in January.
You may also want to enroll some online prep course to work on the verbal.
On my first and second attempts, my verbal were 24 and 25, and my quant in almost 50. So I have decided to utilize some websites online. The one I have used was e-gmat.com and you can do a trial and see if that's useful. At least it helps me to increase my verbal to 30 for my last try.
So really, as streetpunkstar said, don't give up
