GMAT Rewrite Advice?

by Will416 » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:55 am
Hi:

Im seriously considering writing the GMAT again, but am not sure if it is worth the time or the stress as I scored only slightly below my goal of 610-630 range which i feel would easily land me in McMasters COOP program in Ontario Canada which says succesful applicants typically score upwards of 600 (the mean is listed as 627). I recently wrote a 590 (Q34 V38 AWA6), i have a B+ average in Honours history and have 3 years experience in various capacities in an Insurance Undewriting company. While i think i can improve my score im not sure if i can improve enough to make it worthwhile writing again.

Any advice is greaty appreciated

Hello Will416, thanks for your question.

Does the McMasters COOP program list the 80% median GMAT range? If your 590 is within that middle 80%, then I would think you stand a solid chance. I think your quants (i.e., GPA, GMAT) open the door, but it is your essays that get you in.

If you do not think that expending effort on the GMAT will be worth the time investment, perhaps better to focus on the essays.

Best of luck,
Brian
