If a merchant offers a discount of 40 percent on the marked price of his goods and thus ends up selling at cost price, what was the percent mark up?
(A) 28
(B) 40
(C) 58 1/3
(D) 66 2/3
(E) 72

Let MP be 100.Then after discount,CP=60
Mark up percent= 40/60=2/3=66 2/3 %
