GMAT
Overall Score 690- Percentile, 88
Quantitative Score 44- Percentile, 70
Verbal Score 41- Percentile, 92
AWA Score 5.5- Percentile : 80
GPA
3.73 top state school
Double Major-International Relations and Spanish
Study abroad for full year in Spain
Post College:
Teach for America 2 years
Live and work in Argentina 2 years
Currently Business Development Manager for Renewable Energy Company
Quant Experience:
-This is clearly the low point on my GMAT and work record
-Calculus undergrad, A
-I work with engineers so I claim some technical knowledge
-Business Accounting-Unfortunately I took it Pass/Fail (I passed). I regret this now, but at the time didn't know that it would factor into business school later. I believe that I got either B+ or A- range, but can't prove that.
My essays focus a lot on my Argentina and TFA experience. Do you think I need to shore more quant experience? I am very confident in my career choices, I think they're unique and I believe I can handle the b-school curriculum, but I am curious how these 'stats' look to others (especially because I know I'm on the low side for quant).
Schools I will apply to:
Stanford
HBS
Columbia
MIT
NYU
Thank you
I am confident in my path, but how does it look on paper

I think you have assessed your strengths and weaknesses well. The GMAT quant is a weakness for the schools that you are applying too. There are a few steps you can take to mitigate:LKR wrote:GMAT

1) Take quant courses now and earn A's in them. Take stat for business. Perhaps retake accounting. Doing so will demonstrate quant skills and prepare you for b-school. Alternatively, consider taking a course like MBA Math.
2) In your essays or resume bring out a little the analytical aspects of your current job.
3) Ask your recommenders to comment positively on your quant skills.
There is a lot for top business schools to like about your academic background and post-college work experience. Reassure them about your quant abilities, and I think you will hear good news.
Best,
Linda
