I am likely going to stay in Canada, but would consider top schools in the US for an MBA. I’m a corporate lawyer at a top Canadian firm right now, and my undergrad is in business from a top business school. I have about 3 years of work experience.
I want to apply to MBA programs, and I’m starting to think about whether I should write the GMAT or GRE. I wrote the LSAT for law school back in 2014 and scored in the 91st percentile.
I took a diagnostic GMAT today without any studying and scored 640. I struggled quite a bit with the quant but the verbal was familiar to me.
I’d be looking to transition out of law and into strategy consulting/similar after MBA.
Any insight on which, if any of the two, would be better for me to write?
Thanks in advance!

First off, mega congrats on the LSAT score! Your cold GMAT score being where it at, plus the LSAT history shows that’s you are going to have no problem adapting to the GMAT. If your goals, I would 100% recommend taking the GMAT after some more prep. MBB and other consulting firms typically use GMAT scores during OCR once you are in your MBA program. Ideally I would recommend pushing your Q score to 47+ if possible, and your LSAT history should help you get to an acceptable V score with much less effort.
Might as well work on the GMAT score for the next few months, and take an official test in time for R1 apps this Fall if you are trying to go to school in 2021. If you want to post your stats, I’ll be happy to answer questions on what you make look at tweaking for your score/overall profile!

for more understanding, it’s better to look for specialized sites and blogs, on forums I don’t help much and it’s not so right, good luck!

I'd recommend the GRE, unless you're particularly strong in quant skills. Most lawyers I've worked with have strong verbal skills given their background, but unless they had a lot of quant in undergrad, they struggled with the quant in the GMAT. People generally tell me the GRE is easier for this skillset, and all the top business schools accept the two tests interchangeably. So you'd probably get the most competitive test scores with the GRE.
Good luck!
