Q.) From a drawer containing black, blue and gray solid-color socks, including at least three socks of each color, how many matched pairs can be removed?

(1) The drawer contains 11 socks.

(2) The drawer contains an equal number of black and gray socks.

Someone explain..

When analyzing the statements, pick numbers such that you get different results.

From (1), you can have 3 blk, 3 gry, and 5 blu; or 4, 4, and 3. The first scenario provides 4 different matched pairs (a pair of blk, a pair of gry, and 2 pairs of blu) while the second scenario yields 5 matched pairs. Insufficient.

We already equalized blk and gry in the analysis of (1) above.
