SC : Veritas Q 2

A recent study, published by the California Bureau of Employment, found that people who sent in resumes with "ethnic-sounding" names had a much more difficult time getting called back from employers as people who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but "white-sounding" names.

a>employers as people who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but "white-sounding" names.
b>employers as those who did send in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.
c>employers than those who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but "white-sounding" names.
d>employers than those who did send in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.
e>employers than people did who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.

Can't understand why D is incorrect.

How is "...those who sent.." different from "...those who did send.."

Experts please help.

The difference between "...those who sent.." and "...those who did send.." is just that using did is for emphasizing on the verb send! but you don't need to know this to answer this problem.

A and C are out because they didn't use "with" before "white-sounding" names.
E is out because "people did who sent in resumes" is vague in meaning.
Between B and D, I chose D because we should use "than" not "as" when comparing.

Hope this helps!

what is the OA? as far as i know the use of "than" is must for a clear comparison..i dont know why C isnt using "with" i wont go with A D and E..the use of "as" in B is somewhat not clear. so i am stuck between B and C...
E--> then people did who...its wrong
D---> if "who did sent in" is right than the selection is between "AS" and "than"

a>employers as people who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but "white-sounding" names.(Since it compares the ethnic sounding names with the white sounding names,"Than" should be used.).
b>employers as those who did send in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.(same as A)
c>employers than those who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but "white-sounding" names.(Correct as use of "than" is present and parallelism is maintained)
d>employers than those who did send in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.("Who Did" causes comparison parallelism error here ,this can be corrected by removing "did").
e>employers than people did who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.(Awkward wording)

Answer is C. Please share the OA?

Should be between C and E, C is missing with though, but if i go with E, there is this"people did who sent" strange construction never heard of. It does not mean anything in itself though!

If E is like this--employers than did people who sent in resumes showing similar qualifications but with "white-sounding" names.
,then E is also wrong because of "did", then C seems to be a correct choice with addition of "with" word.

As it is none of the options are/is (which one?) correct!

OG or GMAT sentence does not have such ambiguity or incorrectness.
You can, for example never foretell what any one man will do, but you can say with precision what an average number will be up to!
