Help Scheduling GMAT timelines!!

by vp2009 » Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:48 pm
Hi Gurus,

I have decided to give GMAT and pursue MBA asap.
Frankly speaking, I havnt started wth my GMAT prep yet due to my Office time schedules.
But now I have decided to buck up and start wth the Prep seriously.
Could you pls let me know the best sufficient prep timeline to crack the test and also the best time to take up the Test(according to ur statistical analysis :) ).
Also if I'm planing to start my MBA course, what would be the earliest start date in my case?

Thanks in advance,
V.P.

If you're asking about timing with regard to applications, I recommend that you schedule your test assuming that you will need to have time to retake it. Not that you will have to retake it, but it's a wise move to take care of your GMAT and then move on to apps. Doing GMAT prep along with apps is not advisable.

Here's a proposed timeline. Let's say that you are applying R1 to a business school, and that your apps are due in October.

I would allot 3 months to prepare your apps, then 3 months before that date for taking your GMAT.

Thus, April/May would be my reco to take the GMAT if you're applying R1.
