I find this type of sentence correction very cumbersome!

I find this type of sentence correction very cumbersome!

In A, which lacks a clear antecedent. Eliminate A.

In B and C, universally accepted seems to modify William Shakespeare, changing the meaning. What is universally accepted is not the playwright himself but that he was a real, historical person. Eliminate B and C.

In E, attributed as is not idiomatic. The correct idiom is X is attributed TO Y. Eliminate E.

The correct answer is D.

Also B can be eliminated since "considered as" is non-idiomatic.
