The market for recycled commodities like aluminium and other metals remain strong despite economic changes in the recycling industry
a.commodities like aluminium and other metals remain
b. commodities like those of aluminium and other metals are remaining
c. commodities such as aluminium and other metals remains
d. commodities,such as aluminium and other metals,remain
e.commodities, like the commodities ofaluminium and other metals, remains
The answer is C. Problem so many times discussed... No marks for getting d correct answer...
Many members are aware wat is d difference between like and such as..market being singular requires remains..are remaining is wrong....N den we get down to option C...
Now d twist in the story is...
While there has heen some dispute over the use of like to mean "for example," THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE USE...
This is mentioned in OG verbal review...
Now, most of the people who give gmat know that like - similar to...do not use like to mean for example...use such as to give example...But then og verbal review itself says that THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE USE....
Its something like...when you are the ruler of the game you can change d RULES of the game anytime you want....
Wanna know..what you ll do wen u get question dat tests like vs such as...

I have faced this, and I got it correct.
The market.....................remains
Now, the deal about Like Vs Such as:
Like is used:
1. To compare two NOUNS.
Karim, like Nazrul, plays cricket.
2. Like means similar to.
I need some fruits like lemon and date.---I actually don't need lemon and date. I need similar type of fruits. Those fruits may be lemon and date or other.
Such as:
Such as is used to express example.
I like yellow color fruits such as mango. --Means I like yellow fruits, and mango is one of them.
NOTE: Would you please tell what is the actual deal you are facing?
Thanks for raising such a good issue.
