study material for re-take

by smartm0ve » Sun May 23, 2010 4:50 am
Hi

I had taken my GMAT 20 days back and scored 660 (Q49,V31).
I had used almost all top GMAT books, OG12, OG Verbal, OG Quants, Manhattan SC, Manhattan number properties, Kaplan premier , Kaplan 800.
I also gave lots of practice tests including MGMAT, GMAT Prep, Princeton.
I was scoring 700-710 during last week of my preparation but somehow on actual GMAT, I got 660.

I think my SC is OK but RC and CR need improvement.
I would like to retake GMAT but not sure how to improve my verbal score since I have already studied from almost all good books.

I am planning to buy Manhattan CR and RC
Can you please help and suggest some good prep material and practice tests?

Thanks

I wouldn't get the Manhattan CR and RC guides. If you can find someone selling them individually, get the Veritas CR and RC guides. If not, get the powerscore CR bible.

I thought Manhattan CR was great! It discusses everything you need for CR. I like it more than PowerScore CR Bible
I didn't find Manhattan RC as helpful though, so don't get that.

Hi osirus0830,

Thanks for suggestion.
I am definitely going to use power score CR.

I read your blog, seems like Veritas online prep helped you in your preparation.

How are kaplan tests? I am planning to use Kaplan test during my prep.

Kaplan tests are fine, if you don't care about the score. They are good to help highlight weaknesses, but the scores aren't the mosts accurate.

+1

I felt Kaplan's Verbal was off, for verbal I think its best to use OG material. Maybe use Kaplan initially, but leave enough time that you can do OG Verbal 2 times

Goodluck
