Sign knowledge

by sanjib » Wed May 27, 2009 2:27 pm
In the figure above, what is the measure of ÐCAT?

(1) AB ^ AT and AC ^ AD.

(2) AB bisects ÐCAD.

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) ALONE is not sufficient.

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) ALONE is not sufficient.

BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.

Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

Pls help about the sign what this mean

As I can gather the question is asking for the degree measure of angle CAT

STMT I

1. AB ^ AT and AC ^ AD ( assuming ^ = perpendicular)

angle CAD = 90 and angle BAT = 90

Insuff

2. AB bisects ÐCAD

Insuff, as we do not know the degree measure of angle CAD

STM I & II,

CAB = 45, BAD = 45

BAT = 90

BAD + DAT = 90
45 + DAT = 90
DAT = 45

CAT = CAB + BAD + DAT
CAT = 45+45+45 = 135

Suff

Hey Sacx, how you get this????

STMT I

1. AB ^ AT and AC ^ AD ( assuming ^ = perpendicular)

angle CAD = 90 and angle BAT = 90
