So my understanding is -

1) not so much sth as sth - correct
2) not so much sth but sth - correct

but you can't mix them up such as not so much sth but as sth

Also, since GMAT prefers more of academic English option with idiom 1 will be more likely correct.

What do experts think?

I ruled out A as: I thought since the sentence is giving two examples 'having been prescribed ..' and 'having been taken off...' both should follow after 'for example'. So it should look like - "for example, having been prescribed a drug as a dosage too low to be effective or having been" ...

Hi Mitch,

If 'that' refers to 'reactions' (based on the context we can clearly see that it does), shouldnt the right word to use is 'those' instead of 'that'. Don't we write 'those reactions' instead of 'that reactions' What am I missing here?
