It is unclear if order matters.
ie AB and BA are different.
Given order does not matter and want to do it automatically take
(x c 2) + x for a quicker solution.

The question asks: What percent of the lights that are on are supposed to be off? but it also states that: ten percent of the lights that are supposed to be on are actually off. isn't this the answer itself??? i used the algebra approach, somewhat similar to cramya's, and eventually arrived at the ...

GMAT is multiple choice.niraj_a wrote:stuart,
this was certaonly helpful, but would a nitty-gritty on these lines show up on the real GMAT?
If they do not say to approximate then do not.
They will provide a fractional answer like 25/36 and you can chose that.
They will not check your work.

Re: Vein Diagram-how to attack these questions..
There are three different cable channels namely Ahead, Luck and Bang. In a survey it was found that 85% of viewers respond to Bang, 20% to Luck, and 30% to Ahead. 20% of viewers respond to exactly two channels and 5% to none. 1) What percentage of the viewers responded to all three? (A) 10 (B) 12 (...

Ok got it working X = 15
d=vt so t=d/v
5/30 + 10/60 = 1/3
15/60 = 1/4
(1/3 - 1/4) / 1/4 = 1/3
* 100 for percentage 100/3
Choice that fits 500/15 = 100/3

Re: trip on an expressway
please, help to solve this one in 90 seconds... I would either solve this with plugging numbers: But be careful and look at the answers before doing that since X=10 will make both %50 and 500/x options correct! 30=V 60=2V so Total time for (V..2V) = 5/v + (x-5)/2v = 5+x/2v Total time for ( 2V ) = x...

I think I'm wrong becasue I'm getting a fractional answer but here goes: Get everything in terms of one work w. 1/(y+2) + 1/y = 1/(5/12) 4/(y+2) = 12/5 y = 1/3 x = (y+2) = 7/3 So it takes 7/3 days for X to finsih 1 w. For 2 it takes 14/3 days or ~ 4.6 days. I'll go with 4 days. Can someone say wher...

Tuck, I started the same day you did! I unfortunately paid $1300 for a Kaplan course. I basically started at 560 and I'm only at a round a 620 now. How many hours a week did you put into it? I am very frustrated - I mean I have studied my ass off and I feel like I have gotten nowhere. I feel like I...
