Free Practice Test
Hello, I signed up for a free practice test with Kaplan today (2/8) for 7pm-11pm. I signed in about 10 minutes before the exam start date. Unfortunately it didn't work out for me as planned. I was left waiting on the screen that says "please wait for your proctor to arrive". Did the procto...

My favorite parts of the post
There is no shame in seeking help, especially if you feel you are under a lot of stress and anxiety.
Great job, man! I'm happy for you!My score basically increased 50 points, based on addressing my anxiety issues.

Ok, so I like how you said you "would like to pursue GMAT at your own pace". I think if one tries to do too much too quickly he/she can get overwhelmed. The test isn't too difficult, but it requires one to practice, practice, and practice so that they can recognize patterns. Similarly, per...

I've had private tutoring and I did self study, too. Some of the pro's of self study are that you can go at your own pace, youre not limited to the time constraints of tutoring, its much more cost effective, you can spend as much time as you want on any particular topic without having to ask a tutor...

It's possible, but I dont think in 3 weeks. The GMAT is a test about recognizing patterns and the only way to recognize patters is to practice them. With that said, it's probably inconceivable to try and do all that practice in 3 weeks; I don't think it's even healthy to try. But you could focus on ...

Brent, I don't understand that approach. Why start with two variables B and G? Is that the only way to tackle this problem?
PS: nice question : P

I didn't give it much time because I put more emphasis on the quant and verbal content. BUT if you learn the content for the quant and verbal pretty well, you should see an improvement in your IR score, at least that's how it was for me. The only familiarity I had with IR was through practice tests....

I used the official guides; they're definitely the best questions you can find. Other than that I used gmatprepnow and did some magoosh quant. Both were good and I think I'll use them again. I plan on studying a bit more, but this time studying smarter; GMAT specific techniques for quant and some mo...

Thanks Brent, your posts are very helpful and I agree with everything you say. It is tough to find that one method for test-anxiety, especially since everyone is different. The best advice I've gotten so far is to re-take the exam; that's what I'm going to do. I really feel it's a matter of confiden...

I'm in a similar boat- 680 on GMATPREP #2 test, but 510 actual gmat score. I wrote a post in the "i beat the GMAT forum", even though I didn't beat the test. So were somewhat similar, only thing is though that my scores didn't have as big of a range as yours did. Nonetheless, I think the b...

Also, I'm in a similar situation- high practice test scores but low exam grade. It's a tough boat to be in, but I have faith i'll overcome it. I think it's a matter of confidence. Good luck.

most popular time of the year for GMAT
Hey Rebecca,
Do you have any statistics of when is the most popular time of the year that students take the GMAT? In other words, when is busy-season for the exam? Thanks a lot!

Got Beat by the GMAT
Took the test today... got a bad grade (in my own terms). 510 q34 v26. Finished both sections in time. I'm upset that I let anxiety get the best of me during the exam. 3 practice exams were 650 and above, and my last practice test was a 680. I do have test anxiety, and I've been trying different met...
