Advice for splitting up apps between R1/R2?
I am planning on applying to 7 schools this fall/winter. I will be submitting some of the apps in R1, but realistically will not be able to complete all of them in that round. As of now, I'm targeting 4 in R1 and the rest in R2. Any suggestions as to how to decide which ones to apply to in which rou...

I'd be interested to hear what the experts think, but honestly, I don't think having your ex-bf write your peer recommendation is all that strange, if you founded an organization together and genuinely think he's in the best position to evaluate you as a peer. I'd imagine many people get peer recomm...

Here's the info for UCLA: http://www.anderson.ucla.edu/x27516.xml
If you google "[program name] recommendation letters", the info you need will almost always be in one of the first three pages returned. Unlike essay questions, the criteria for recommenders rarely changes.

Letter of recommendation tips?
I have two people in mind to write my letters of recommendation, both former supervisors (I don't want my current boss to know I'm applying, as I haven't been at my current company all that long). I've looked through the requirements for these letters for the schools I'm applying to, and it is a LOT...

Choosing where to apply without visiting
I've narrowed down the list of schools I'm considering to 10 or so, but I need to narrow it further to 6-8, and a sub group of 4 or so to apply to in round 1. I live in CA and have no problem visiting the schools here (Haas, Anderson, Stanford) before October, but looking at my schedule and vacation...

Thanks for the perspective. I still think it's a good choice for me, for reasons other than financial, but it's just getting over that initial mental hurdle of accumulating so much debt that's hard!

I think the question is, do you really want a master's degree in computer science? I would only do it because you really want that degree, not as a way to prove you can handle a tougher school. Michigan State is a very respectable university - I don't think you need to worry about that. Your GPA is ...

I'm in LA as well, and my best friend just graduated from UCLA Anderson, and my roommate just graduated from USC Marshall, so I've seen their experiences. Both schools have excellent SoCal networks, and if you want to stay here, either school is a great choice. They both ended up with great jobs in ...

The cost of B-school - a tough pill to swallow!
Is anyone else having a hard time justifying the cost of an MBA? I really want to go - I think it would be a great thing for me personally and professionally. However, it will wipe out all of my non-retirement account savings and give me $100k in debt on top of that. I am making close to 6 figures a...
