Hi, not sure I followed you in the second para.....are you implying that the actual GMAT score is likely to be higher than the average score on MGMAT? May I also solicit views from Stacey from MGMAT on my below post.....it is really important! I agree with you, the MGMAT quant section is definitely ...

Equivalence between MGMAT and Actual GMAT
I have my GMAT date just 2 days ahead....I have taken 5 of MGMAT tests so far and at the very outset, I have to say that MGMAT makes the test taker sweat (always better to practice harder). However I am really disillusioned with my repeated sub 85 percentile score in quant (which is in contrast to 9...

Thanks much Mitch..... Hi Mitch, How did you arrive at "2" good outcomes with every letter? why only ACDB and ADBC for A?....this logic is perhaps my missing link Thanks If we correctly put A in the 1st position, we have BCD left. We can't put B in the 2nd position, so our options for 2nd ...

gotcha...thanks much Another approach, assume there are 4 empty spaces (envelops) that have to be filled by one letter each - A, B, C and D. Total number of ways to do this = 4*3*2*1 = 24 ways Now if we assume that the correct line up is ABCD. Further assume, first space is filled correctly in how m...

Thanks makes sense... Question is Is |x| = y-z? St. 1: x+y = z implies x = z-y Let's say z=0, and y=1, then x=-1 & |x|=1 i.e. |x|=y-z However, if z=5 and y=2, then x=3 & |x| =3 which is not equal to y-z i.e. -3 -insuff ( I think in this one the key is considering z as 0 & taking a +ve va...

Probability
Q. Tanya prepared 4 letters to be sent to 4 different addresses. For each letter she prepared an envelope with its correct address. If the 4 letters are to be put into 4 envelopes at random, what is the probability that only 1 letter will be put its envelope with correct address? One of the answer e...

What is the remainder of 7^365 divided by 5 and how did you go about it? Hi, As you know, to find the remainder of any division by 5, we primarily need to know the units digit of the numerator.... lets find the units digit in the following powers 7 to the power 1...7 7 to the power 2....9 7 to the ...

absolute value confusion
Source - GMATPrep
Q. Is Absolute value x = y - z?
1. x+y=z
2. x<0
My doubt:
1 can be rearranged to read : x= -(y-z) and hence abs val x = y-z.....sufficient
answer however is C....why is 1 insufficient and why do we need 2 to answer this?

Thanks Mitch...appreciate all your help so unless explicitly stated otherwise, one is to assume only distinct prime factors and not how many times they occur, right?
