Thanks so much, Ian. The way you solved it algebraically is much more condensed than the way Knewton did in the explanation of the answer, which is great! I would like to know, though, what makes this problem jump out at you that it can be solved algebraically? I'm asking because there are variables...

Thanks, dmateer. That actually helped out a lot. Now I know its more competitive at UNC with regards to work experience. I guess I'll have to look at the FAQ's of my other prospective schools.
If anyone else has any information on this, please help.

Does Undergrad full-time work count as work experience?
I worked as a bank teller full-time for 3 years and 7 months while studying for my undergraduate degree. After graduating in December 2009, I was hired to work as an Analyst for another company, which I still work for currently (going on 9 months now). I have a total of 4 years and 4 months of full-...

Feedback on Rejections?
Do top B-schools (particularly Johnson, Stern, Wharton, Tepper, Columbia) give you feedback or reasons why you got rejected from their programs?

Thanks for your responses, guys. Hman, you bring up a good point. The school being in a not-so-urban area would probably be the most logical conclusion I can draw as to why its not considered much by applicants. And maybe the fact that its not located in a large city leads to most financially appeal...

Is Pre-MBA Salary a Factor in Admissions?
I have been researching many top schools, and what I have gathered is that the average pre-MBA salaries (or mean base salaries forgone) of accepted students range from 50k to 80k per year for top schools. My current salary is a little less than 40k per year. My question is: does this have any effect...

What about Cornell (Johnson School of Business)???
Why is it that Cornell's MBA program is rarely mentioned or brought up on the BTG forums. I see that it is a top B-School (11th place in Businessweek rankings and 18th place in US News rankings) but applicants don't consider this school in their prospects for B-School. Is there a specific reason why...
