Natural Numbers start from +1 and extend to +infinity. Whole numbers start from 0 to +infinity. Integers range from -infinity to +infinity Since the statement says multiply the number by natural numbers, the multiples of a number(Ex 3) will be equal to 3*1, 3*2, ...., 3*infinity. Hope this is clear.

I think the key here is "that must be purchased in order to measure out the portions needed for the mixture" Though B gives the minimum amount required,(1 gallon White and 1.5 gallon Black), it also requires the extraction of 3/4 gallon white paint from the 1 gallon white paint and 1.25 ga...

Arrange the number like this
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
1 3 6 10 15 21 28 36 45 55 (sum in ascending order)
55 54 52 49 45 40 34 27 19 10 (sum in descending order)
It clearly shows the sum till 7(28) is greater than the sum in reverse till 8(27) by 1.
