Could you explain, in case colon is replaced by comma, why options B, C , D and E are wrong?

Option B is incorrect because it is a sentence fragment.

In option B "Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932" is a participial phrase. But we should have a Dependent clause present after Although. So option B is incorrect.

"because" is an adverbial modifier, so it should modify a verb. In option A, the use of "because" is modifying "why tissues are unusual forms of cancer" instead of modifying any verb or action.

So because is wrong.

Hi,

Can anybody explain the correct usage of "when" as a relative adverb modifying time?

Why the usage of "when" in the below sentence is wrong:

it was not until almost 1950 when modern critics and biographers began to seriously consider the literary events of author's work.
