Its conincidental I should read this today because I've been thinking alot about this these issues for the last few days. I expect to in the same range (620-670) in a few days with the real deal. You have not mentioned anything about your background and this is key. To illustrate my point, I am 38 y...

Ta for the input guys. Yeh, the mgmat quant guides are second to none. That said, their verbal stuff does'nt impress me. I know alot of people on this forum rave about the mgmat sc book, but frankly, I think it is almost impossible to absorb. I think aristotle does a much better job albeit highly co...

mgmat cat analysis
I wrote my 1st mgmat cat today: mgmat 1: 670 (q43, v38) 6/10 I don't understand the scoring on mgmat, nor do I want to. However I am perturbed at the level of the questions. I got 18 correct in quant and 25 of the questions were 700-800 level. I got 24 correct in verbal and 24 of the questions were ...

Dude I feel your pain as like you, I've also "squandered" months and only now attempting to cram for my test in 4 weeks. So much so that I am beginning to believe that time compression is a reality ahead of 2012...LOL! Remember this, the single biggest obstacle that gmat presents...is the ...

Not sure mate. However one possibility is that most of my incorrect answers were experimental ones that do not count and by sheer bad luck, yours were'nt. The test does make some mention at the beginning regarding experimental questions....otherwise I am as stumped as u are wrt the large difference.

some guidence would be appreciated.
Hi Guys I wrote the gmat earlier this year with basically no prep, apart from reading PR's "cracking the gmat 2010" in 3 days (a book I would'nt wish on my worst enemy). Not surprisingly I scored a 470 (q25, v31). Anyway bought the enitire MGMAT set (a godsend) and have been studying on an...

I just finished the powerprep cat now. It was my first cat, score 700(q46,v40). Upon review I also had 19/30 correct in verbal...so yeh tis abit weird when compared to your score. However I must add that my incorrect answers were almost exclusively SC...so could be a weighting issue. Sorry I cannot ...

Hi, I think if you read it slowly and carefully it will make sense. I assume u have no problem with the arithmetic behind the problem, merely the phrasing. Of "these" IMO would imply more than one group of finance majors....however the problem only mentions one group....hence use of the wo...

Thanks Rahul and Fiver...tis much appreciated. As an aside to other newbies following this thread.....in the short while that I've started studying for gmat, I find that it is imperative that one understands solutions in terms of your understanding and interpretation of problems and if u try and ass...

Ok...getting there slowly. I want to run this explanation by u which I do understand..... Since a=b+7k and we know a is not a multiple of 7, hence b cannot be a multiple of 7 in order to satisfy equation (non multiple = Multiple - non-multiple). This means 2b cannot be a multiple of 7. In final step...

Thanks mate for that prompt response. While going thr' your explanation, I realised I got my rules confused...lol! Anyway I'm with u up until the end when u say 2b + 7k will never be divisible by 7....why?....I understand that b + 7k is not divisible by 7 but battling to see final implication that 2...

MGMAT number properties
Hi all....here goes my first post on this forum. My query refers to DS problem 10, Chapter 10 (p.133) Mgmat number properties: Question states: "Is the sum of integers a and b divisible by 7? 1) a is not divisible by 7. 2) a-b is divisible by 7. Herewith my interpretation: 1) Obviously insuffic...
