IMO the answer is 74 let the sd be x now 58 is two sd below the mean ... and 98 is three sd above the mean so the diff between 98 and 58 is 5sd i.e. 98-58 = 5 sd => 5x=40 => x=8 Hence the mean is 58+ 2*x= 74 or 98-3*x= 74 So the answer is 74 Correct me if wrong ... btw what's the OA ... regards sason

I feel pretty confident that TPR does not deflate the scores. Like I have said, if anything it appears that our scores are inflated 20-30 points (largely, I suspect, because of the Verbal.) I have taken 20+ GMATs from various sources, and this has been my experience so far. It also coincides with m...

I found the scores for MGMAT and Kaplan irrelevant. MGMAT Quant is nowhere close to the real stuff and Kaplan Verbal, esp RCs, is miles away from the real stuff. Of course, I went bonkers when I saw those scores but the key was to plug the gaps each time I scored badly. GMAT Prep is a great practic...

I hope the member or the PR staff active here will throw some light over the difficulty level of the tests. I agree - quant is very eas...

Hi guys. This is a tricky one for me. If two of the four expressions x+y,x+5y, x-y, x-5y are to be selected at random, what is the probability that their product is equal to x^2 - (by)^2 where b is an integer. a.1/2 b.1/3 c.1/4 d.1/5 e.1/6 x^2 - (by)^2 = (x + by)(x - by), which clearly implies that...

we have the four numbers x+y,x+5y, x-y, x-5y and need to pick 2 number such as the product of the selected numbers is x^2 - (by)^2 i.e. now we can select the numbers in 4c2 ways (2 numbers out of 4) = 6 ways now the product should be x^2 - (by)^2 which means they can be factored as (x-by)*(x+by) so ...
