Why have we taken the nos as a-4,a-2,a,a+2..etc? Can we not simply take it as a,a+2,a+4,a+6,a+8 ?
1) a(a+8)=48
=> a=4, or a=-12
Mean=+8 or -8
Insuff
2) (a+6)(a+8)=24
=>a=-12 or a=-2
Mean=2. or -8
Insuff
Combining these 2 the common solution is mean = -8
Hence, C
Is that a way to solve this?

RC Accuracy
Hi Guys ! What should be a realistic accuracy rate for RC passages? I have been working on OG 10 RC's and getting around 2 -3 questions wrong in 6Q RCs. Also, what should be the desired time taken for an RC passage? Looking at 3 RCs in the real exam - i would lose 6/8 questions which can really hurt...

How to increase your Q score beyond 48...Help !!
Hi Guys I am consistently getting Q48 and want to touch the 50 mark. The source of my Quant study so far has been OG12. But when I first gave GMATPrep, I realized that the questions are much tougher than OG. So can any of you share questions that can help scale to the 50-51 mark. I particularly fall...

Don't worry..at least you're certain to score well above your first attempt. GMAT isn't easy, atleast i'm sure now ! I don't plan to try Kaplan..I prefer Manhattan for the way they have explained the concepts. Would recommend that to you as well - especially for SC and CR. R.S Agarwal ! Those were t...

True. Will try this approach..but this would take time. Looking at my weakness at RC, I have rescheduled my exam by around 3 weeks so that I can focus on this. Any tips on math? I know Q48 is decent, but as an Indian, just hurts ! How is your prep coming along? What scores are you seeing and when is...

Thanks Bryant, rockeyb ! Gave another try today at the gmat prep test 1 again..670 now (Q48 V34) Would you agree that test 1 is easier than test 2 especially in Quant? Kept a pace this time and finished the V well in advance. In Q however, i was still short. And I made a number of silly mistakes ! I...
