Need help deciding Cornell vs NYU EMBA

I have been accepted at NYU and Cornell for their EMBA programs and I am now a little confused about the choice. Columbia was my first choice but I got a ding there. NYU seems to be heavily tilted towards Finance areas and I seem to like Cornell's Ivy league status and overall general management cou...

Hi Ebehboud, I dont have any suggestions to you as I am having a similar problem...CR and RC are killing my scores while I am able to consistently score around 47-49 range. I am planning to take the exam around April 18th... I have been comfortable with SC but when it comes to CR and RC, no matter h...

Adham, Could you please let us know the exact titles of the LSAT books you used ? I searched Amazon and seemed to find a lot of books on LSAT Tests and I am not sure which one to follow. Also, as others have asked, did you mean you practiced RCs from Kaplan book and read their explanations or does K...

I try reading www.ft.com (Financial Times) and www.mckinseyquarterly.com (McKinsey) for financial news.

For general national and international affairs, I read www.economist.com (The Economist).

For science topics, I read www.sciam.com (Scientific American)

Happy reading...

Declutter your online reading

Hi BTGers, I am sure a lot of you, like me, practice and improve your RC skills by reading different articles online from various sites - the ads and other links can be very distracting. I stumbled upon a great browser plugin and thought it might help all others preparing for the GMAT RC by declutte...

Congratulations on the achievement. It takes a lot of energy and will to keep going for about a year but the reward is great ! I observed that the major part of your effort was in improving your Verbal score during that period - I had a few questions for you with regards to that improvement : 1) How...

Congratulations. 47 in Verbal with 30 minutes to spare (huh!!!) - that is an achievement in itself but as you said, there is a technique to everything and some get it naturally while others have to work hard at it. I am not trying to downplay the efforts you had to put in or anything... RC and CR ha...

Hi. No it doesn't. Im not scared by the signs my man, so switching from - to + doesn't clear it. if you arrange 4 numbers on a number line in an increasing order, they look as follows: x^5...............x^4...............x^3...................x^2 So by adding the middle ones and two outer ones, it'...

Hi there,

Since you said Condition II is easy, it probably helps if you rephrase the third condition this way :

III) x^4 + x^3 < x^2 + x^5

Now, Stmt III is similar to statement II.

Hope this clears the confusion.

I am getting 30% (B). 2 sets of 3 member parties out of 6 is equivalent to AAABBB since who goes into which committee is irrelevant. So, we can form 6! / (3! * 3!) = 20 total ways of coming up with 3 member committees among 6 people. Now, all the ways of getting Anthony and Michael on the same team ...

Nice solution DanaJ.

Here is an alternate way to look at it visually as a double set matrix. This helps visualizing the problem very clearly...Please refer to the attached diagram for details.

This is an anagram in the form ABBCCC

So, total ways = 6! / (3! * 2!) = 120 / 2 = 60

You can try to extract common elements out. Here try taking 10^2 out.

10^2(10^6 - 1) / 10^2(10^5 - 10)
= (10^6 - 1) / (10^5 - 10)
which is approximately equal to 10^6 / 10^5 = 10

Hope this helps.

The answer is 20 (A) Here's how. If you are aware, there is an anagram approach. To arrange the words PAPA in all different forms - you can come up with all arrangements by dividing the total number of items divided by the factorial corresponding to the sets of indistinguishable items. So, PAPA (2 s...
