Since your GPA is your weakness, I would suggest (1) retaking the GMAT and (2) maybe enrolling in a few local college courses in your weakest area (ie, college level stats or calculus if quant was our weakness). Both of these will boost your profile, show initiative and help better prepare your for ...

If you can, apply to all six. My advice is this......when you have a unique profile and are telling a different story that many others in the applicant pool, your ability to "reach" is much, much greater. This is a very important point that is understated on these boards. Look at it from t...

Maina, Good questons - I hope I can help. Three things: First, I would definitely apply to your top10 school, but get the application in as early as possible. Your ability to get into a top 10 program shouldn't be affected by your commitment to the top 30 program. However, as many on these boards ca...

Sorry to hear about the job, but you present a very interesting question. And I imagine it is not that unusual considering the times. I would be very interested to hear what the experts say here as they have contact with adcoms and may be familiar with this situation. My advice would be to start the...

I have heard of students transferring between full time and part time, but not between executive and full time. That said, many of the executive programs are evolving/adapting to the times, so we may see more of it in the future.

I would consider an executive MBA....you would fit the profile well and likely get into a top 10 school with or without the 700. Texas has some quality programs at McCombs, Cox and others.

Which is harder to get into?
Which would be harder to get into? A top 10 Executive MBA program or a top 20 full time program?
(I understand that different programs for different folks, but I am just asking generally speaking).

Have you considered Duke Fuqua? They have a great program in energy & environment if that is a career path you would continue.
Here is a link: http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/edge/education/mba_ee/
Also, their average GMAT (687) and GPA (3.40) seem to fit your profile.

Assuming by your handle, you are in southern California, I would suggest the following:
1. UCLA (Anderson)
2. USC (Marshall)
3. UC Berkeley (Haas)
4. Pepperdine
5. UC Irvine
All have EMBA programs and four of the five would be an easier commute time.

Accepted at NYU...
So now its a choice between NYU and Kellogg (and maybe SMU).
I am 60% Kellogg, 30% NYU and 10% SMU.
I have withdrew all my applications elsewhere (including Duke, Cornell and Booth).

9 lessons-learned for all potential EMBA canidates....
I have leaned over the last past year applying to various EMBA schools a few lessons... (1) It is all about work experience and career progression (for most schools).
