I usually go by this : if a right angle triangle has a hypotenuse as multiple of 5 then it is a 3-4-5 right triangle. I could be wrong but it solves most of the questions.hongwang9703 wrote:yeah I am pondering over the same question, how do you tell just by looking at it that its a 3-4-5 triangle???

This cannot be true because OG has real GMAT questions. So it must be a matter of levels you encounter in real ...

This is what I did, let me know where I went wrong ... it looks right to me. First: I reduced the main statement to X^2+Y^2 = 85 Statement 2: x=y+1 I plugged this in to the statement above and got: -- (y+1)^2+Y^2=85 --> Y^2+2Y+1+Y^2=85 --> 2Y^2+2Y-84=0 --> Y^2+Y-42=0 --> (Y-6)(Y+7)=0 --> Y= 6, -7 F...

shouldn't the probability be <4/5? probability = area of region where x-y>0 / total are of region = x/0.5*4*5 = x/10 point (4,4) is where x-y=0. point(4, <4) is where x-y>0. x = 0.5 * 4*(<4) = <8 hence x/10 = <8/10 = <4/5 the point here is that to get 4/5 you would have to take the region where x a...
