Verbal 41-44-50, all vary with around 0-8 mistakes as in GMAT Prep. So its possible. Similarly in quant. Scaled score is non linear. Getting a few questions correct at certain points really propels the percentile when compared with certain other points. And I think this perfectly highlights the pro...

I know exactly how you feel. The first time I took the GMAT I got the same overall score, except my split was even more dramatic: 40Q (56%) and 50V (99%) for a 720 overall. In fact, I even applied to schools last year using that score, and while I did get into a top-15 school, I didn't even get inte...

Third time's a charm...GMAT 760 (Q49/V45)

Hey all, I've been on this forum a few times, mainly to complain about my previous GMAT scores. Well now, for the first time, I can actually report success. I took the GMAT this past Saturday and scored 760 (Q49/V45). My first two tries were by no means complete disasters, but I was constantly disap...

720 is a decent score and is okay for any top ten US schools you want to apply. While many people are struggling to break the 700 barrier to help them secure the academic aspect of their applications, the weight between 720 and 760 or even 770 is not so significant as to keep you off the door. More...

Thanks Kevin, I’m pretty swamped at the moment but I’ll contact you soon. On another note, I just thought of something else that may seem obvious but just recently occurred to me. In my anger, I decided to calculate the mean and standard deviation of my various practice test scores to see how my...

Thanks for the encouragement Kevin. My problem with my verbal score is that it suggests I got several (i.e. more than five or six) verbal questions wrong. I have never had a problem with GMAT verbal, and I have never encountered a question that I found was too "hard." If I make a mistake i...

Hi mj12g , I have the same feeling. I took the test yesterday and scored 640 ( Q 46 V 31 ) :( my previous score was 650 ( Q 48 V 29) (Last dec) .I thought I did the verbal section decently barring the last RC . I felt that more than 34 questions I attended in the math section were right. I got some...

While I realize that people can be shocked by low scores, I'm still confused by what seems to be a highly improbable statistical anomaly in my verbal score. If I take the mean of all my verbal scores, it cannot be lower than a 46 (and if I assign extra weight to my first actual GMAT verbal score of ...

Thanks ian...i actually took the gmat today and was shocked by how low my scores were: 44q/41v/700. I guess the gmat prep is not the best indicator of performance. Perhaps the best indicator is a random walk. I posted my disappointing results in the "I just beat the gmat" forum, but i thou...

Shocked beyond words...

Right now I am, shocked, horrified, and ashamed. I just finished taking the GMAT about a half hour ago, and I scored a 700 (44Q/41V). While this may appear to be a decent score, the last time I took the test in September 2009 I scored a 720 (40Q/50V). This time I felt fully prepared: I wasn't hungry...

You need to realize that a 46 verbal score is the 99th percentile, as are all higher verbal scores. A 49 in the quant section is 'only' the 89th percentile. True, although since I got a 50 in verbal on my first taking of the GMAT, I'm shooting for a 48-50 on my second try. If I can also pull off a ...

Thanks for the response arun...again, I'm not so much concerned with how well the GMATPrep predicts the actual score, more with just how the scoring algorithm compares with the real GMAT. But addressing your questions: 1. I didn't take the AWA; I'm going to do a little review of it, but I'm not too ...

Thanks for the response. I'm not so much talking about the score as a predictor of actual GMAT performance (although that would be nice to know), but the accuracy of the software of transforming your responses into a real GMAT score. In other words, I find it hard to believe I actually got a 49 in q...

Accuracy of GMATPrep score?

Hi all, I realized that this question has come up in various forms over and over, but I'm starting to question the accuracy of my GMATPrep score, at least when it comes to verbal. I took the GMAT two years ago after taking a Kaplan course and scored a 720 (40Q,56%/50V,99%). Obviously, I'm much stron...

Thank Bryant, that actually makes me feel quite a bit better about my applications overall. I didn't realize that the initial rankings use only the composite score. One more quick question, if you have a moment (and I apologize if there are already multiple threads about this), but is there any evid...
