Should I Retake? Advice Appreciated

Hi All, I would really appreciate your advice about the following. I apologize that I only remember percentiles and not absolute score breakdowns. I took the GMAT for the first time in 2009 and got a 730 (95th percentile verbal, 79th percentile math). I had read that it was important to have at leas...

Missing Link in my Application

Hi All, I am looking forward to applying to a few schools this coming fall. I'm glad I've made the decision this early, as it gives me an extra 6-8 months or so to try to hone my candidacy and shape my story. I think I am fairly well prepared, but I fear I may have one glaring weakness, which I'll a...

Please Evaluate My Candidacy!

Hello! I would truly appreciate an honest evaluation of my chances of admission to a top-5 US business school. Before I begin, I am only 22 years old and do not plan on applying right away. Rather, I want to get an idea of whether you feel I am close to where I need to be, and what, if anything, I s...

Prep was relatively non-intense. My approach was to conquer all the concepts before attempting a CAT test, figuring that at that point all I'd have to work on was getting used to doing the test on a computer. I started with a book by Peterson's but quickly realized that it wasn't for me - I disagree...

Am I Still a Competitive (Sure Thing) Applicant?

Looking for some help from those who know: I just got a 730 - 47Q, 42V. 96th percentile. I got 760 on both on my GMATPrep exams, so I am slightly disappointed. I had had the attitude (right or wrong) that a 99th percentile score would all but guarantee me a spot in a top 5 program. I had a 3.76 GPA ...

Did I beat the GMAT?

Looking for some help from those who know: I just got a 730 - 47Q, 42V. 96th percentile. I got 760 on both on my GMATPrep exams, so I am slightly disappointed. Question is with regard to B-school admissions. I had a 3.76 GPA from a good undergrad school. Is that, with my 730, a good bet to get into ...

I believe the formula for 3 is:

Total: (# of 1) + (# of 2) + (# of 3) - (# that have 2 of characteristics) - 2*(# that have all 3) + (# that have none).

Is the answer D ? Just evaluate each one - doesn't take much time. It tells you x>y>z^2 I. x>y>z. Since z is going to be smaller than z^2 every time (except with fractions), this could definitely be true. Think of a quick example. If x=100, y=99 and z=3. WORKS II. z>y>x. The stem tells you x>y, so t...

4^11=(2^2)^11=2^22

So you have 5^21x2^22=2x10^n

Divide both sides by 2, you'll get:

5^21x2^21=10^n.

Use the property that says (x^n)x(y^n)=(xy^n), you get:

10^21=10^n.

n=21.

Hope that helps!

Ok So I get that that is the convention, but can someone explain to me how the following isn't a contradiction? In the example given a few posts above, it says if y^2=9, y= +/-3. But if y=√9, then y=3. Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty certain those two statements are equal. The way you s...

Sqrt(-16) is an imaginary number... -4 squared is positive 16. Where is the imaginary concept in the problem? Despite what everybody says about "GMAT Land" and assuming that only a positive root exists - I Call BS. I am with you here. I think there is some really bad, misleading informati...
