600(initial)--> 650 --> 700! (q46, v40)

I just took my GMAT on Monday morning and got a 700 (quant 46, verbal 40). Quick background: I have always hated and feared math. I hated every single math class I took in high school and suffered through calculus my senior year. I went to a liberal arts college and ended up in marketing. I have alw...

manhattan gmat guides- "in action" section?

For those of you who are familiar with the manhattan gmat prep material, i wanted to get an opinion on how valuable/useful you found doing the In Action problems? With a month away from the 2nd test, I'm wondering if I should focus on the OG problems only, or if the in action problems really do help...

Hi there, I actually took a manhattatan gmat class (live, not online), so I studied using all of the MGMAT guides, as well as the OG quant and OG 12th Ed. My quant scores on practice tests were as follows: 39, 40, 42, 43, 46 (gmat cat1), 47 (gmat cat 2). As you can see, my actual quant score of 40 w...

just took the gmat- bombed the math!

i just took my gmat and got a surprising 40 on the math and 40 on the verbal (650 total). This is kind of slap in the face because i was at around 39/40 before i even started my prep! my recent practice scores in quant have been 46 and 47. i already schedule my next test for sept 21, but i need to f...

hi all, thanks for the advice. i actually ended up taking my 2nd gmat prep cat today (previously have focused on manhatttan gmat cats)- and glad i did! my main game plan has been to review any OG problems i got incorrect over again until i knew them backwards and forwards- but this also means i didn...

from my own experience, as well as from hearing others' stories, it seems that sentence correction is the area in verbal that is the easiest to improve on within a short period of time. the manhattan gmat sentence correction guide is great. Reading the guide AND doing the "In Action" probl...

Bad idea to take GMAT practice cat? 4 days to go!

Hi there, I've been reading here and there that it is essentially a "bad" idea to take a GMAT practice CAT exam close to your exam date since it'll exhaust you mentally, etc. I'm thinking of taking a final GMAT prep test 2 tomorrow (sat) with my exam on Tuesday. I am already terribly nervo...

i would recommend only if you're the type of person who has a hard time identifying whether to use fractions or decimals when trying to solve a problem- and thus spend too long doing basic math trying to manipulate the decimal or fraction. otherwise, i think if you do the manhattan gmat CATS and loo...

1 week to go..! Score expectations?

Last Saturday I took my first GMAT prep cat and scored a surprising 690. I say surprising because I have been studying for over 2 months now and have completed a manhattan gmat course- all the while my MGMAT CAT scores have been in the 600s (600, 640, 620, 640). As I am aiming for a 700, i was thril...

Kate, I signed up for the Manhattan Gmat course and found the materials GREAT. Quite honestly, I think the info is definitely a lot, but once you start to remember all of the rules and ways of solving the problem, it makes a world of a difference. However, my MGMAT CAT scores are a different story: ...

I would say studying the CR & RC manhattan gmat books helped me alot. I am naturally stronger in verbal than quant, so i have been focusing my studies in quant (99%). However, skimming through the RC & CR books over the course of 2-3 weeks led to a substantial improvement in both. In RC, for...

im currently taking a manhattan gmat course, as well. My test date is Aug 18 and my class ends July 31, giving me just over 2 weeks to study. Personally, Im a cram-it-all-in studier. The reason why I scheduled it early was so that- 1) i wouldn't lag in my studying- a 1 - 2 month stretch AFTER taking...

1 month to go- 80 pt improvement possible?

I've been studying for my GMAT for a little under 2 months now w/ manhattan gmat classes, and I have my test date schedule in a month. I am concerned because although I feel I have gained a ton of new knowledge, insight, tricks, my practice test doesnt seem to reflect that. I'm aiming for a 700, but...
