I started with Cracking the GMAT from the Princeton Review, and I would highly recommend it. The overview of the test is great. They do a very good job of breaking the test down, section by section. I also especially liked the strategies for process of elimination. Once you have a feel for the test,...

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend Arco either. Official Guide, GMATPrep and Princeton Review (answer explanations are good) are definitely better.

I have never heard of that site. Only go with reputable resources. A 690 is only 10 points shy of 700. It's not the end of the world. 700 is the mythical magic number, but a 700 vs. a 690 isn't going to have a significant impact on your acceptance chances. If you're intent on it, then just take a fe...

From what I have seen in this in other forums, 800score.com is not recommended.

I thought the schools didn't see your actual GMAT essays, just the scores. I got the impression they used it to compare to your application essays. If you get a 3 on the GMAT essays, but write a brilliant application essay, they're going to suspect you hired someone to write your application essay. ...

Most representative are GMATPrep and Princeton Review for tests, and Official Guide 11th edition for practice questions. You can download GMATPrep free from www.mba.com, but I'd head to your local bookstore or Amazon to get other materials. They're readily available. You can use Kaplan but their tes...

Your debriefing is great, but I have to say, it's rather self-indulgent and insulting to others to write that you at least didn't totally "blow it" with that score.

Yes, do one question type at a time, get into a good groove and review as you go. You can set a target of 15 questions or so, but adjust as you need to.

Good luck!

I know you just lost your job, but do you have the funds to take a prep course? I think that would help you immensely.

The best advice I could give you: do not make ANY decisions about any aspect of applying to b-school based on a score from a practice test you took cold. You've been out of school for 6 years, so you're not going to score well without any prep. Until you learn more about the test itself, brush up on...
