That could also partially explain why you scored lower on the real deal compared to practice tests. Yeah the t...

The one thing that I notice while reading your post is your emphasis on taking practice tests. While you should definitely take some practice tests, they are only meant to help you with your pacing and figuring out where you stand. Congrats, Empirestateofmind! I don't think you should worry about the AWA too much, especially if you're a native speaker. Even if you are a nonnative speaker, then as long as you try to score well on the TOEFL you'll be fine, especially with your good verbal score!

Sorry for the late response. I would supplement the prep that you're doing with books from Manhattan GMAT (the ones that you don't already have). Sorry, don't have those anymore... The post above lists two essays, I guess you could sort of guess the overall structure from there. I'm not sure what you mean by how meaningful should the examples/overall thinking be... No one expects you to write the sort of essay that brings a tear to the reader...

Nope, that's fine! I even mentioned in my original post that it's OK to qualify a situation.

Congrats, alienvirus, for the awesome admits! I'd say you should post this question on MBA Watch. That way you're bound to get more replies. Just post it on either school's comment wall (i.e. Columbia here; http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/school/columbia-business-school/a/comments ) and mention both ...
