CFA to make up for low Q score?

Hi,

I only scored 42 (66th percentile) in the Quant part of the GMAT.
Do you think that having passed the first two levels of the CFA program can make up for this low score in my application?
I am aiming for the best programs in Finance (NYU, Wharton, Columbia).

I would go for B, replacing the powers by their real value makes it easier.
