Also,

(x+y)^2 - (x-y)^2 = 2xy + 2xy =4xy
thus, 4xy => a^2 -b^2

y and z take 15 and 18 hrs respectively,
so working together they should complete the work between
7.5 and 9 hrs
by the formula, it is: (15*18 )/ (15+18 ) = 90/11

now, answer is: 12/ (90/11 ) = 22/15

answer is 181

let A be xy then B = yx
or A = 10x+y & B = 10y+x
so A+B must be a multiple of 11.
Hence only 181 doesn't fit the bill here.

as per me: it would be 1.6x as the storage costs are paid only for march to oct, so the costs for the whole yr would also be no more than that. in march, cost would be on 7x/2 rakes and every month x/2 rakes would dwindle from the pile so that => 0.1*x (3.5 +3+ 2.5...... + 0.5) = 0.1*x [ 4*(3.5 + 0....

Re: Rainy day

A contractor estimated that his 10-men crew could complete the construction in 110 days if there was no rain. (Assume the crew does not work on any rainy day and rain is the only factor that can deter the crew from working). However, after 5 days of rain, on the 61-st day, he hired 6 more people to...

Kaplan & OG explain this,
sqrt of an integer in GMAT considers only the positive root
so, that's why we are not taking the negative root here.

reason, why B isn't sufficient

diag is 10 feet & QR >RS
consider this scenario: QR = 5*sqrt(3) and RS = 5
this also fits for this rectangle.

So, answer is (C) only.

IMO: D when the average weight is 18, then 10 pound boxes = 6 20 pound boxes = 24 (easy to calculate) Nox, to reduce the average weight to 14, let total boxes be Y, then: 10 pound boxes = 6 20 pound boxes = Y - 6 thus, 10*6 + 20*(Y - 6) = 14*Y i.e. 60 + 20Y -120 = 14Y or 6Y = 60 thus, 10 pound boxes...
