I do not understand the way you combined the statement 1 and 2. Is there another way to determine that the answer choice C is insufficient?


Let me try to solve this Statement 1: I first plug 2 for x and 1 for Y 8^2 > 4^1. YES I plug -2 for x and -3 for y 1/8^-2 > 1/4^-3. NO. Hence, statement 1 is insufficient Statement 2 I plug 1 for both x and y 8 > 4. Yes I plug -1 for x and -2 for y 1/8 > 1/4^2, yes Statement 2 is sufficient. CMIW.

I thought that the statement 2 was insufficient because it could have been solved by plugging diverse numbers with the same result 12. for example (4,4,4), (1,2,9), ( 2,4,6) etc
