To answer your second question, The issue you run into is positive negative - you can't take a square root on both sides because you have to accomodate the negative option - in your example if x^2<4 then -2>X <2. Doubts on Coordinate Geometry!!
(1.) IF two lines p and q have slopes (-3) and (-5) respectively then slope of which line is greater??
(2.) IF two lines a and b have slopes of (6) and (-4) respectively then the slope of which is greater??
