Re: Que: A spice trader increased the selling price of a bag of spices by 40 percent and...........
Solution: Let us apply the IVY approach to solve the question. As we are dealing with percentage, then let the original price of the bag of spices be $100. Price after increment by 40%: (100 + 40)% of $100 => (\(\frac{140}{100}\)) * $100 = $140 Price after second increment by 20%: (100 + 20)% of $1...

Problem Solving
Re: Que: A juice machine has 500 liters of watermelon pulp in stock, 20 percent of which is water.....
Solution: The resultant percentage will be the weighted average of the percentages of the above two stocks. => \(\frac{500\cdot\frac{20}{100}+200\cdot\frac{20}{100}}{500+200}\cdot100\) => \(\frac{100+40}{700}\cdot100\) => \(\frac{140}{700}\cdot100\)=> 20% Therefore, B is the correct answer. Answer B

Problem Solving
Re: Que: In a toy shop if a toy car attracts a sales tax rate of $2.50 per $50. What is the sales tax rate......
Solution: Tax paid on $50 = $2.50. Thus, a tax, which is four times as much as the above, would be $(2.50 × 4) = $10.00 on $50. Thus, the tax rate = \(\ \frac{10}{50}=0.2\) Thus, this tax, expressed as a percentage = \(0.2=100\cdot\ \frac{2}{10}=20\%\) Therefore, D is the correct answer. Answer D
