Thanks. Makes total sense. Not sure why I got confused. Maybe under test conditions...encountered it on a practice test.

Sounds a little silly, but I am having a bit of an 'English' moment here. When the tree increases by a constant amount every year, I wasn't sure whether this means it increases arithmetically or geometrically. I am not sure if I am using the right terms. In simple language, I wasn't if 'increasing' ...

It's amazing what time can do. When I first saw this question on the forum, months ago, I found it a bit confusing, and was happy to see an explanation. This time I read the question -- and immediately I knew that E was the answer. Here is why: The passage states: Those who marry young live longer t...

Thanks, I see. I guess then I must go outside the software, on the net, to find those. There is no way to access every single question the software carries, on the software itself, after one has re-set a test or two? Except, perhaps, by installing it afresh...

Is there a way to see in one place the entire collection of questions on your GMATPrep test, regardless of the number of times you set or reset it?
I would like to reset it, but I am worried about losing access to the questions I have already attempted as part of the test. Kindly demystify this also.

Ceilidh/other GMAT/GRE instructors,
Could you please provide some insights on this question. I am very curious to know how to address such questions as they could up on the IR too and I want to know if they require some special way of addressing them.
Thanks!

"So as strange as it sounds, if x itself is negative, -x is actually positive!" This in itself does not sound strange as independently we know of the multiplication property of negative numbers. "The biggest takeaway here: -x doesn't mean "x is negative", it means "take...

Perhaps because I didn't use the technical terms, grammatical rules, and spoke only on the basis of usage. I guess the vw was hoping to learn about that. Hopefully experts will be able to guide.

Sidchilling, thanks for the illuminating post. Very helpful. Found gmatguru's explanation helpful, too, especially the bit about "based" and "each year" (didn't see earlier that 'based is kind of like a verb, not an adjective...), but my understanding is that "that" can...

Let me take a jab at this. Interesting way of looking at it. I had never considered this before. I in fact thought that while simplifying the second statement, when we reach the following stage: |x| = -x this basically means that the GMAT is giving us a condition, something like |x| = -p or |x| = -4...
