I'm sure you're eager to hear unbiased advice from other students, but there are a few things I wanted to mention... 1) IGNORE PERCENTILES!!! Students place entirely too much weight on percentiles, which are entirely unbalanced between quant and verbal. A raw score of 42 is now a 50th percentile on...

Verbal 94% but Quant 42

Hello guys, Sadly, the score break down for my test yesterday in the subject line yields only a 650. i was curious if anyone else has the apparent score discrepancy I have and how they handled it. This was my 3rd time taking the test. 1st test was 600 (71%v 42%q) 2nd test was 640 (83%v 50%q) 3rd (sh...

Interesting, I must have missed this last time I took the test. I thought at the end, in order for me to see my score, I had to first indicate that I wanted it to be an official score (without actually knowing how well I did) But I can actually view the score first and, if I don't like it, I can hav...

The risk of getting a lower score than last time

Hi Guys, Just a quick question. I'm scheduled to take the GMAT for a third time. 1st score was 600, 2nd time was a 640. After some time off, I'm taking it a third time just to see if I can up my score. All indication from studying for the last month is that I may not do any better that the 640 I got...

Thanks Marty,

My verbal skills are good and can obviously improve. But it is very clear to me that my quant skills are lacking. So most of my focus is dedicated to quant for now.

Thanks Marty.

So in my 15 days until my next test, you recommend dedicating a day to a particular quant type questions (like 50 a day) until I've gotten very competent at the topic?

Thanks!

Hi Rich, 1) For this go around, I've been studying since about Middle of November. But, as I alluded to, I took the GMAT last year and studied for about 3 months all said and done. 2) I have been using veritas prep. I took the live classes last year and have since resumed using the study materials t...

How to keep calm and carry on.

Hi Guys, I’ve got an exam on Jan 6th. And I need some advice to improve as much as I can over the next two weeks. Background: Took the test a year ago, got a 640 (80% verbal, 50% quant) but I want to up it to 700. Since I’ve started up studying about a month ago, I feel I’ve hit a plateau. My ...

Arithmatic, Alegbra ect practice websites

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody new of any good sites out that there are good testing and training basic level algebra skills like factoring, foil method, dealing with radicals. Ideally, something that could hit you with just endless problems and repetition. The idea is to have a bunch of these ...

GMAT Podcasts Suggestion

Hi Guys, This may have been asked (I think it was actually in a thread dated 5 years ago) but I wanted to get some updated opinions on some GMAT podcasts to take advantage of. In my case, I have a nice 50min drive to and from work and I wanted to make good use of that time. So if anyone knows of any...

Hi Orion007, The extra information that you've provided is quite useful in that we can now define why you're scoring at your current level and what you'll likely need to do to improve. First, we have to discuss the "shortfalls" in your original approach: 1) Completing a full Course in one...

First thing that jumps out at me is the thing about frustration. In working with many people on many things I have found that even the degree to which they use of the word frustrated seems to correlate with their having problems in various areas. So this is probably affecting you even within questi...

MBA ROI

Hi Guys,

I was curious if anybody new of good website or reference that serves as a good calculator of your ROI on an MBA.

It be nice if there was one that was all encompassing (takes into consideration the extent of your loan, type of school, potential pay ect...)

Thanks.

Hi Rich Thanks for offering your guidance. 1) I took a one month veritas prep course (live classes). At the conclusion of the class, I continued studying a month and a half on my own. 2) I used the material provided to me by Veritas, which seems very extensive. I also took advantage of the free soft...

Tips for improvement on common problem areas?

Hi guys, Just got back from taking my first official test and didn’t quite get the score I wanted for the schools I’m looking into. Overall I got a 600 with 71 percentile for verbal 43 for quant. That disparity struck me as odd considering I’m a CPA. However, I noticed some problems/issues on ...
